Screen Readers #
Situm Wayfinding is compatible with popular screen readers such as TalkBack (Android)* and VoiceOver (iOS). This feature allows blind and low-vision users to navigate the app effortlessly, with audio descriptions for menus, map elements, and turn-by-turn directions.
User’s don’t need to perform any configuration in the app: as long as the TalkBack / VoiceOver is enabled within the smartphone itself, Situm Wayfinding will perform as expected.
Expected performance #
The best performance is achieved on native Android apps, where accessibility features integrate directly with the system’s screen reader. In hybrid environments (e.g., Flutter, React Native, Cordova), screen readers also work but accuracy & robustness vary (depends on each framework’s internal implementation of accessibility support).
Based on our testing, Android 10 and above provide a significantly improved and consistent TalkBack experience across all platforms (native and hybrid). Also, if you’re using Flutter, we recommend using v3.27.5 or above.
