Regarding the identification of the elements that make up a building within Situm, there are two fundamental concepts that are key for advanced operations: the Building ID and the Floor ID.
As the name suggests, the Building ID refers to the unique numeric code used to identify any building created in the Situm system. This code will be generated when the building is created, and there are several ways to look it up from our dashboard.
Similarly, each floor within a building has its own unique identifier, called the Floor ID, which is also generated at creation time.
Knowing these values will allow you to make advanced adjustments targeted to these specific building instances, whether through a Situm viewer integration or at the SDK level. Additionally, managing these values will facilitate any reporting process to our support team, as they are unique codes that identify each building instance.
The following sections describe several ways to retrieve these values.
Map Editor (Recommended) #
When accessing our Map Editor, as shown in the screenshot, you can find the corresponding Building ID in your browser’s URL (/buildings/8377 in this example).

Open Settings in the left-hand menu (also available via the Ctrl + , hotkey) and select About, as shown below:

This panel also displays the exact values for the Building ID and the currently selected Floor ID. Note that switching floors updates the value automatically:

Legacy Map Editor #
In the Legacy Map Editor, you can also quickly check these two identifiers. As for the Building ID, beyond seeing it in your browser’s URL as mentioned above, you can also find it in the building edit panel, in the upper-left area of the screen:

The same logic applies to retrieving your Floor ID, since you can view it in the floor edit panel:
