New technologies like VLC (Visible Light Communication) and OCC (Optical Camera Communication) offer new possibilities to develop indoor location solutions. To explore these opportunities, Situm announces a partnership with French light communication leader ZERO1.

Until now, Situm has specialized in offering precise indoor location and navigation without dedicated infrastructure (through Wi-Fi) or, in some cases, with the least amount of BLE beacons necessary. OCC and VLC technologies, in which French leader ZERO1 specializes, use LED installations -already present in many buildings- and smartphones to accurately locate indoors.
The mix of these two technologies will offer ultra-high reliability and an unprecedented user experience for shopping malls, airports, hospitals, factories, etc. as well as new opportunities for how businesses present their points of interest throughout these massive indoor spaces. Instead of leaving it to the visitor to search through menus and lists, light communication technology, along with indoor location will allow them to discover new POIs along their way.
Through this union, Situm and ZERO1 will be able to offer green technology with low energy consumption and high reliability to develop the best indoor location and navigation solutions.
