The project, which delves into the synergies of the metaverse and geolocation, is funded by the Xunta de Galicia through grants awarded by the Galician Agency for Innovation, as part of the InnovaPeme 2023 business aid program.
The indoor positioning market is booming worldwide, and the demand for new solutions related to this field is ongoing. Managers of large international buildings have focused their interest on augmented reality to create their own metaverses, offering visitors more interactive experiences and providing workers with more accurate geopositioned information about the location of tasks to be performed and how to reach them.
To meet this growing demand, Situm has launched the METAXEO project, funded by the Xunta de Galicia, through grants awarded by the Galician Agency for Innovation, as part of the InnovaPeme 2023 business aid program.
The main objectives of the project are defined as follows:
- Identify and prioritize use cases verified by Situm’s clients of metaverse technologies combined with those of Situm, with demand and the company’s ability to commercialize.
- Test on a pre-industrial scale and validate with a pilot the technical viability of the geopositioned metaverse.
During the project’s execution, Situm will collaborate with Xoia, a provider specializing in augmented reality, to gain knowledge about these technologies and analyze the technical and commercial viability of potential metaverse use cases in the Situm market. It will also collaborate with SREC, a provider specializing in voice data capture, to validate guiding users in the metaverse using their voice.
Thanks to this project, a result of public-private collaboration, Situm will be able to continue developing innovative solutions tailored to market demands.
