Situm is proud to announce that Qatar Research, Development and Innovation (QRDI) Council has awarded it with the Indoor Navigation Wayfinder for Special Needs Customers project. Thanks to the generous sponsorship from QRDI, Situm will continue to enhance its inclusive indoor maps and navigation solutions, specifically focusing on increasing accessibility for people with disabilities.
The project includes the creation of a user-friendly navigation app for Qatar Airport, focused on making travel easier for everyone. The app will include features like voice guidance for the visually impaired, a simple interface for quick navigation, and an augmented reality avatar acting as a personal guide. This innovative approach aims to make airport visits more accessible and enjoyable for all travelers.

Situm has been selected from a global pool of startups, SMEs, and corporates that were invited by QRDI and Qatar Company for Airports Operation and Management (MATAR) to submit proposals. The proposals focus on developing an indoor navigation wayfinder to help reduce stress for persons with disabilities (e.g., those with motor impairments, mental disorders, anxiety, or hearing impairments) when they journey through complex places such as convention centers, shopping malls, and airports.
The sponsorship from QRDI opens up new opportunities for Situm to collaborate with key stakeholders and expand its technological capabilities. The partnership aligns with QRDI’s Innovation Opportunities program, which aims to support innovative projects that can have a meaningful impact on society. Situm’s focus on accessibility fits perfectly within this framework, and with QRDI’s backing, we are empowered to accelerate our development of inclusive navigation solutions.
