Situm sponsors the Santander YUZZ Santiago award

OpSeeKer, an online financial advisor, rises as the best project of the local YUZZ Centre, and will compete for the National First Prize.

Sense(X) is selected as second local finalist and will compete for the Santander YUZZ Woman award. E-WEAR reach the third position.

Situm has collaborated for the first time as a sponsor at the YUZZ Santiago Centre due to its experience as a participant, and, especially, for having been received the National First Prize of the V YUZZ Edition. Situm presented the diplomas to Sense(x), the second runner up and developer of a biometric device (an electronic tongue) which enables to determine the presence of allergens in food through the collection of both physiological and food data.

Andrea Hernández and Víctor Uxio are the promoters of Sense(x); Also Hernández has been selected as a finalist for the Santander YUZZ Woman award.

Situm also presented a gift to each promotor of the three awarded startups.

OpSeeker has been selected as the best project of the YUZZ Santiago Centre, in a prose-giving ceremony held at the assembly hall of the University of Santiago de Compostela. Thanks to this, Gonzalo Camiña and Lucie Hefnerová, promotors of the startup, will compete with the other finalists from the rest of the local editions of YUZZ for the National First Prize of the VIII YUZZ Edition.

The awarded startup is an online financial advisor positioned between financial institutions and users to provide a genuinely independent consulting. Its web application uses play money (with no real value) for the people to simulate their investments.

E-WEAR, promoted by Ángel Rodríguez and Carlos García, reached the third position thanks to its device developed as a personal assistant to individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and elderly people, who can forget to take their medicine or suffer a fall. The aim of E-WEAR is to improve the quality of life for users, as well as caregivers and relatives.

Two special mentions were also presented at the ceremony: the selection of the finalist for the Santander YUZZ Woman award and for the Disruptive Technological Innovation Santander YUZZ award, being Lumpwave chosen to apply for this recognition. Lumpwave, promoted by Ignacio Hernández, progresses in the current methods of food preservation, developing a container to enable food preservation without the need of refrigeration equipment.

A shuttle for innovation

The YUZZ project started in 2009 as a technological incubator for big ideas. The program went from two centres in Barcelona and Madrid to 50 YUZZ Centres all over the country and one in Argentina. YUZZ is led by CISE and promoted by Banco Santander through Santander Universidades program.
