Interactive map and real-time outdoor & indoor navigation to improve visitor experience
The integration of Situm outdoor and indoor maps and navigation in the African Development Bank Group Annual Meeting official app aims to enhance the attendee experience by providing seamless outdoor and indoor navigation throughout the expansive KICC. With this feature, delegates can effortlessly find their way to various sessions, exhibitions, and meeting rooms, ensuring they never miss an important presentation or networking opportunity.
Two of the main innovations in this edition’s map compared to the previous year are the integration of JSON data and the inclusion of 3D recreations.
- JSON data integration: In addition to making maps more visually appealing and detailed, the use of JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) allows for an efficient and fluid data exchange with servers, which favours a better app user experience.
- 3D Recreations: The app also includes 3D recreations of the KICC’s ornamental elements and iconic buildings. These detailed 3D models enhance the visual experience for users, making it easier to recognize and navigate through the complex. The recreations not only help in orienting attendees but also offer a virtual tour of the architectural beauty and significant landmarks within the conference center.
Other key features of the Situm integration include:
- Real-Time Positioning: Attendees can see their exact location within the KICC on their smartphones, making it easy to navigate the complex layout of the conference center.
- Turn-by-Turn Directions: The app provides detailed directions to all event locations, including session halls, meeting points, dining areas…
- Customizable Routes: Users can set preferences for accessible routes, avoiding stairs or opting for paths with elevators.
The implementation of Situm’s navigation system at the KICC will certainly help to reduce the stress and confusion that often accompanies event attendees in such large and unfamiliar venues, helping to create a more efficient and pleasant environment to work in.
