The pilot project, consisting of the digitization of physical spaces, will improve shopping experience
‘EL CORTE INGLES’ shopping mall at 71 Paseo de la Castellana (avenue) in Madrid (Spain).
El Corte Inglés, the largest Spanish department store chain and one of the world’s leading companies in the distribution sector, has chosen Situm’s indoor positioning technology for an innovative project that will improve shopping experience inside physical stores through smartphones.
Carlos Conejero, El Corte Inglés’ Digital Innovation Director, highlighted that “the combination of the high precision and the robustness of Situm’s indoor positioning technology, coupled with the fact that there’s no need of beacons, has helped us to reduce deployment and future maintenance costs of this pilot, that we expected to extend to other stores soon”.
The pilot project was carried out in El Corte Inglés’ stores of Goya and Castellana (Madrid), and El Duque (Sevilla). Soon the project will enter into a new phase that will allow a large-scale implementation.
The pilot was done in collaboration with Geographica and with CARTO technology.
