Aena’s digitalization project to cover all its airports in its mobile app continues to progress at a good pace. The technological deployment continues in Malaga and Alicante, two new locations where, from now on, indoor guidance powered by Situm is also available.
After introducing the guidance service at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas and Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airports, the app now includes the Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport and the Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport, thus covering a large part of the passengers arriving at the peninsula on their domestic and international trips.
A better experience for travellers at two new airports with a great future projection
Just 8 kilometres away from the centre of the Andalusian city, Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport is one of the key points of the first airline established in Spain in 1919. Most passengers passing through this airport have an international destination, with the United Kingdom in the lead. However, its relationship with Barcelona, Madrid and Palma de Mallorca airports is also significant.
According to Aena, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport in Valencia is in “one of the most dynamic areas with the greatest business and economic projection on the Mediterranean coast”. Nearly 90% of its passengers have an international destination or origin, again with the United Kingdom in the lead, but also the Netherlands and Norway.
Aena has launched its mobile app for Android and iOS, offering passengers and visitors personalized assistance with real-time guidance, among other functionalities. This Aena initiative has been developed through a collaboration between Telefónica and Carto DB on the Situm IPS indoor location platform.
