SIGUE, using the indoor positioning and navigation technology developed by Situm, will be available by late November into the Lucus Augusti Hospital, in the city of Lugo, and the Álvaro Cunqueiro Hospital, in the city of Vigo.
The Galician Health Public Service will deploy and indoor positioning and guidance system for patients into its medical centres through a mobile application. The app, called SIGUE, uses the indoor location and navigation technology developed by Situm, and it will be available by late November into the Lucus Augusti Hospital, in the city of Lugo, and the Álvaro Cunqueiro Hospital, in the city of Vigo, two of the biggest and most modern medical centres in Europe.
SIGUE, which has been created by Telefónica and involves Situm and BALIDEA as technological partners, will offer a wide variety of functions to help both patients and health professionals. The app starts working at the time a user request a medical consultation, indicating a direct route to the corresponding medical centre. Once into the building, user will be guided to its related wearing area and assigned a shift visit, thereby eliminating the need of report to admissions. In te same way, the application gives information about other services, both inside and outside the hospital, like restaurants os shops, and allows to share user’s location with its phone contacts that using the app.
The Government of Galicia plans to expand the system to all the hospitals and large medical centres in the region.
An innovative technology
Alberto Núñez Feijóo, President of the Galician Government, stressed at the SIGUE’s presentation that the new service incorporates innovative technologies like the high precision location system developed by Situm. The same technology has been successfully used in multitudinous events like SPIN2016 and Mobile World Congress, and serves as the basis for Prosegur’s Mobile Resources Management indoor geolocation platform.
